Behind the Hymn
"All I Have Is Christ" was written by Jordan Kauflin, a worship leader and songwriter who serves at Sovereign Grace Church in Louisville, Kentucky. Kauflin, the son of well-known worship leader and author Bob Kauflin, grew up immersed in theologically-driven worship music and has continued that legacy in his own songwriting. The hymn is a deeply personal confession of sin and a celebration of grace — it opens with a stark picture of spiritual blindness and rebellion before turning to the transforming work of Christ.
